What is the DAWG Walk? Do we actually walk dogs?

  • No, we don’t walk real dogs.  The DAWG Walk is the M-S PTO’s annual fundraiser and has 2 parts:
    1. Fundraising and Prizes associated with fundraising levels
    2. We are the M-S Bulldogs so the “DAWGS” are the kids and we make walking part of the celebration we have to thank the kids for all of their fundraising efforts.

DAWG Walk Donations are due by WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2015

The DAWG Walk Celebrations (Walking and Dancing) will be taking place at each individual school this year.

  • This change was made for many reasons; some of which include:
    • Making the celebration fun, individualized, and age appropriate for the different schools
    • Remove the threat of Mother Nature ruining our celebrations – now we can plan for outside, with an onsite/inside option if weather dictates
    • Remove the challenging logistics of moving kids to another location – this was time and $ we can now spend on the celebration
    • Making it easier for parents to attend – parking and getting to the Lake of the Woods site was very challenging for many parents as well as the students
    • Making scheduling easier – each school was able to choose the date that worked best with their other commitments

Online donations and registration are highly encouraged this year.

  1. Using online registration provides you the ability to use social media to raise funds and kids who raise at least $5 online will receive our DAWG Walk DAWG TAGS for their backpacks.
  2. Registering online makes it easier for the PTO to ensure we collect the correct information and are able to deliver the correct prizes to all students.

Receipts for donors.

If your donors would like a receipt for their donation, please print this and leave them with their half of the form.  Please include the other half in your envelope with the donation. Donation receipt form.

DAWG Walk Dates – the dates of each school’s DAWG Walk Celebrations are below:

  • Middletown Prairie: Thursday October 8 – 1:45-2:30pm
  • Sangamon: Thursday October 8 – 9:00-11:00 am
  • Lincoln Trail: Friday October 2 – Time to be announced soon

We are very excited for this year’s fundraiser and look forward to sharing more information with you as we get closer to the date

DAWG Walk FAQ’s

Here are some questions we have already received – we will update this list as we get more of your questions.

  1. I can’t find my child’s confirmation email
    • Please check your junk mail – the email was sent from no-reply@m-spto.com
  2. When can my child pick up their Dog tag? (this is a prize for registering online and making a $5 online donation)
    • We will be having DAWG Tag stores during lunch on Friday 9/4 at Sangamon and Lincoln Trail
  3. How do I register my child?
    • Register your child on the Registration Tab.
    • Your child’s information should default for first name and teacher when you enter the Last Name.
    • If you are having trouble, please email correspond@m-spto.com or president@m-spto.com with your child’s name and teacher and the trouble you are having and we will be happy to help.
  4. How do I print my child’s DAWG tag coupon?
    • Log in to your child’s donation page (at the M-S PTO website – the DAWG Walk tab – look them up and then enter your email at the bottom section where it indicates Parent/Guardian Info) Select the child’ name & enter your email address
    • When you enter your child’s donation page there is a “Get DAWG Tag Coupon” button.
    • Bring up coupon, print it and send it to school Friday with your child
  5. My donors are asking for a receipt
    • You will find our donor receipt in the post below.  Please print that and follow the instructions on the form so that your generous donors can write their donations off on their taxes.
  6. Who do we make checks out to?
    • Checks should be made out to M-S PTO
  7. How can I see the specific donors who have donated to my child online?
    • If you go to your child’s donation page (the same one you posted or sent out – you can also get to that page if you search for your child  by last name on the dawg walk tab), there is a section at the bottom that is for parents/guardians.
      • If you enter your email there (the one you registered your child with originally)- you will be taken to a page that has the option to print final donation sheet.  If you select this button, you will be presented with a list of all of donors so far including; their email address, total donation and the date of the donation.
      • This will NOT effect your child’s ability to continue accepting online donations.  It simply provides the up to date donation detail information for your child.

 

Dawg Walk Has Officially Kicked Off!

The 2015 Dawg Walk has officially kicked off today. Please register your students on our Dawg Walk registration page. Students who register online and get at least $5 in online donations will earn an extra dog tag prize.

Dawg Walk is the primary fundraising program that the PTO runs each year. We raise money that goes directly back to our schools. To give you an idea, here is what we were able to fund with 2014’s Dawg Walk fundraiser:

  • $9,000 in Technology Support
  • 40 iPads
  • 8 Laptops
  • 1 Xylophone
  • 24 Chrome Books
  • $2,000 for playgrounds and gardens
  • $14,000 to classroom teachers
  • $9,900 in online academic subscriptions

In 2014, we were able to raise a total of over $80,000 that went directly to programs and equipment for our children. Please help us make the 2015 Dawg Walk an even greater success!
